Careful now...

Two posts in one year! This may start being a real blog!

So where have I been? I've been lazy! And busy. I have another child now and two kids is more work than one, but less work that two ones. If you have kids, you'll know what I mean.

Anyway, I suppose blogging has become more appealing in recent weeks as I've read a few really good blog posts, I have an iPad which makes it easier to do this sort of thing on the lounge or in bed. Honestly, I can't be bothered sitting actually at a computer anymore. And certain things have been bugging me (e.g. Climate change) and I think my husband is a bit over my rants.

Now he can read if he wants and then switch off any other time I mention anything!

Being reflective for a moment, the comment on sitting at a computer made me a bit nostalgic, a lot has changed in the last few years. I've gone from sitting at my computer an awful lot, to getting a lot more involved and interested in cooking. We've given up playing WoW and have no real urge to actually play at all- usually giving it up is an act of will that constantly eats away. Now I just don't want to play it.

Another big thing is a constant low level wish to just stop and sleep. Of course, you may ask why I'm not sleeping now and blogging instead. The kids are both asleep in bed- my son in my bed. But I just know that as soon as I do drift off, one of them will wake up and then I'll have to fight off the grogginess and grumpiness that comes with not having a full REM cycle. So I live with tiredness all the time. Oh to be a teenager at school again! You mean you don't have to wake up until 7:30? You can go to sleep whenever you want? Why wouldn't you go to be at 9:30 if you didn't have to wait for your son to finally go to sleep!?!

Of course, we are slowly trying to get said son to go to bed by 8 or 8:30pm with limited results. The last few nights I've just left him out in the lounge room and my husband and I have gone to bed and a few hours later, I've transferred him into his bed. Some nights I just dont have the energy to fight him. Why don't toddlers have bigger cots that they can't climb out of? It's great getting my daughter to sleep. She just gets put into the cot and she can't escape. She only cries very briefly cos she understands that now is the time to sleep, and generally does. My son though. He's a real stubborn, determined munchkin. With the absolutely best chuckle.

The joys of being a parent! I don't really want them to grow up too much though. Just get better at sleeping and saying "yes mummy"!

So yes. Just random thoughts, nothing meaningful to contribute to society. The joys of blogging!

  1. Ummm....I'm 20 and I have to get out of bed at 5:30am! Though I don't have a baby keeping me up at all hours of the night. Gen Y stereotyper!! :P

Yay for the iPad. I thin I'll wait for iPad 2. A USB slot would be awesome.
